About the event

Overview

This inaugural meeting will shape the future of the group and advance basic and translational research in brain–body interactions that support human brain health through lifestyle-based interventions. By bringing together an interdisciplinary community of international researchers who share the objective of improving human brain health, the event will focus on collaboration, strategy, and knowledge exchange.


The scientific programme will include:

1. Invited talks from selected international experts.

2. External engagement panels, focused on community and policy; and on industry partnerships.

3. Open call for abstracts for 10-minute presentations and posters.

4. A Hackathon for Early Career Researchers with seed funding.

5. Conference proceedings will be published in the Journal of Restorative Neurology and Neuroscience.

Schedule

16 July: Pre-conference workshop - Collection and processing methods in brain fNIRS (open for separate registration, sign up details to be shared soon)

17 July: Hackathon (FREE, open for separate registration) - for early career researchers (hosted at The Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health (ISEH), W1T 7HA)

18 July: Conference Day One - UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health

19 July: Conference Day Two and Conference Dinner  - UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health

Abstract Submission

Abstracts are welcomed that align with the overarching theme “Boosting Brain Health through Lifestyle Interventions”, including (but not limited to) the following topics:


  • Technology (e.g., Wearables, Neurotechnology, Neuroimaging methods)

  • Concussion, Head Impacts and Injury Prevention

  • Human physiology and mechanistic pathways

  • Basic Science (including in vitro, animal models and mechanistic work)

  • Exercise Performance and Sport Science

  • Mental Health

  • Neurodivergence

  • Dementia and neurological disease

  • Lifestyle Interventions, such as:

    • Nutrition

    • Sleep

    • Stress

    • Inflammation

    • Social connections


Deadline for submissions is the 7th April 2026 at 23:59 GMT.


Submissions will be considered for either poster presentation or 10-minute oral presentation. All abstracts will undergo peer review by the ISENS committee, and conference proceedings will be published in the Journal of Restorative Neurology and Neuroscience.

Notifications of acceptance will be issued in April 2026.
